without exception..
Not the one fooled
by friends today..

Thinking this world
to be permanent...
Presuming that we
Will be here forever
Seeing death around us
Everyday...
Are we not fools?

Thinking that someone
will always die
but not me...
Despite death's glare
in our face every minute
Are we not fools?

Running after myriad dreams
Entangled in countless hopes
Rushing for the horizon
which is ever receding
Are we not fools?

Tasting fruits one after the other
yet never satisfied with the game
hoping against hope
to reach some unknown goal
Feeling dejected in the end
yet unable to stop the game
Are we not fools?

Honesty is best
Yet we cannot follow it
Humility is saintly
yet we cannot practice it
Gratitude is great
yet it is alien to us
Love is Divine
Yet we cannot feel it
Are we not fools?

Being fools ourselves
We laugh at others
on this day
calling them April Fools
This is the biggest joke
Are we not real fools?
